Historically marriage has been so awful for women that the whole society was geared toward making sure women had no other options. It was only one hundred years ago that most American women could not get divorced, could not get into the majority of professions or good-paying jobs, had no access to birth control, died in childbirth, and could be legally beaten or raped by their husbands. So feminism did break down something, but I wouldn't call that something "the family unit." I agree with you. Feminism broke down the domination of the culture by toxic masculinity and that allowed for healthier families.
