Overcome the Panic
Last week, I went scuba diving. I used to scuba dive quite a bit in my younger years, but having lived so many years in Arizona I just got away from it. Not to mention kids, a job, taking care of family members, and the never ending list goes on and on.
The site we dived at was called Brennecke’s Ledges off the coast of Kauai. It was a beautiful site but a rough day water wise and given I hadn’t dived in a few years, it took me some time to adjust. About 10 minutes in, I was rolling along, calm in this underwater world. When I completed the dive, I felt a sense of accomplishment. One, I survived which was a big deal considering my rough start in the choppy water. Second, it just felt like it mirrored my life of late. I get into choppy water or a dicey situation, I feel a momentary sense of panic and the I telll myself to breathe and calm and before I know it, I’m relaxed.
So where am I going with this? My point is that my experience is not so different from many of you all reading this blog. It is just a reminder that we can overcome any situation. It is just about taking a moment to pause, calm ourselves, take a deep breath and move forward
Happy writing this week!
