I am Not a Twin! I am a Human Being!

I wonder how often tv shows use the same actor/actress in completely different roles. I'm not talking about plot related issues such as twins, relatives or doppelgangers (e.g., Sheryl Lee as both Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson on Twin Peaks) or roles which put the actor in such heavy makeup/prosthetics as to be completely unrecognizable  (e.g., Wayne Alexander played at least four different aliens, and one human, on Babylon 5...I suspect similar repeats can be found from Star Trek and other ...

Plch The old Columbo is full of actors playing multiple roles in multiple episodes, both in main roles and in side ones (but nobody seemed to cares, since Peter Falk played the only regular character and there was close to no continuity)

rivka Star Trek has examples of both, going all the way back to the Original Series.

In the who-is-in-there? role, Ted Cassidy had a voice-only role (Arena), as well as being the fake Balok (The Corbomite Maneuver) and the android Ruk (What Are Little Girls . . . ?) Janos Prohaska played several "monster" roles, including the Horta.

In the latter type, the surely-they-won't-recognize-him! role, Mark Lenard was first the (unnamed) Romulan Commander in Balance of Terror, and then Spock's father, Ambassador Sarek, in Journey to Babel -- a role he later reprised in the movies. (At least one of the official novels makes a reference to the resemblance between the two characters.) He's not the only one to play both a Romulan and a Vulcan. The actor who played Stonn in Amok Time had previously played a Romulan in Balance as well.

And Diana Muldaur and Majel Barrett each played two roles on the original series and another entirely on Next Generation. (Leaving aside Majel's voice as the computer.)
