I am Not a Twin! I am a Human Being!

I wonder how often tv shows use the same actor/actress in completely different roles. I'm not talking about plot related issues such as twins, relatives or doppelgangers (e.g., Sheryl Lee as both Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson on Twin Peaks) or roles which put the actor in such heavy makeup/prosthetics as to be completely unrecognizable  (e.g., Wayne Alexander played at least four different alien Read more of this blog post »

William Lawrence Bragg
“I feel very strongly indeed that a Cambridge education for our scientists should include some contact with the humanistic side. The gift of expression is important to them as scientists; the best research is wasted when it is extremely difficult to discover what it is all about ... It is even more important when scientists are called upon to play their part in the world of affairs, as is happening to an increasing extent.”
Sir William Bragg

Thomas Henry Huxley
“The science, the art, the jurisprudence, the chief political and social theories, of the modern world have grown out of Greece and Rome—not by favour of, but in the teeth of, the fundamental teachings of early Christianity, to which science, art, and any serious occupation with the things of this world were alike despicable.”
Thomas H. Huxley, Agnosticism and Christianity and Other Essays

“If the automobile had followed the same development as the computer, a Rolls Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year killing everyone inside. ”
Robert Cringely

Mae West
“Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.”
Mae West

Tallulah Bankhead
“Nobody can be exactly like me. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it.”
