80 Years Ago—Apr. 2, 1943: US War Production Board approves construction of the “Little Big Inch” pipeline to take refined oil from Texas to the northeast states.

Off Portugal, sloop HMS Black Swan and corvette HMS Stonecrop sink U-124, the third most successful German U-boat with 48 ships sunk.
