Life & Writing Tools: What If I Don’t Have Dreams By Susan Hanniford Crowley

First, I’d like to thank Artemis Crow for being with Nights of Passion. We wish her enormous success. I hope to see her soon at an event.

Second, let’s talk about what you can do if you don’t dream. The mind is such a great collector of knowledge and practical wisdom. Whether we realize it or not, we’re constantly learning more about ourselves and life. The mind reveals things to us in many ways that don’t involve going to bed and dreaming. Here are some of the ways our brain conveys this information:

Daydreaming
-You see or hear something and it reminds you of something else. Maybe it’s a place you’d like to visit or something you’d like to buy for yourself or others.
-Daydreaming is a form of us testing the waters. Do we really want that?
-At other times, it is a stress release.
-Daydreams can also inspire. Maybe you’re constructing a goal to work toward.Deja vu experiences
-Have you been someplace that you’ve never been there before, but you know all about it? You didn’t read bout it in advance either. It’s just a feeling that you know the place. Sometimes it’s the same with meeting a new person. You may have the feeling you know them.Attraction
-You may find you’re attracted to certain items, people, and places. You may not know why though. Memorable Moment
-Something that has happened to you that doesn’t make sense. I call them Puzzles.
-It could be a miserable or Unhappy experience. It’s important to note these down. You may learn from it at a later date if not now.
-The Golden Moment is happy and surprising since it’s unexpected. You want to record this to look back on fondly. Somehow everything has fallen together to create this happy event in your life. It can also lift you up during hard times.Important Feelings
-These are your reactions to what is happening in your life at different times.

There may be more ways, but you can start recording these. How should you keep a record of your myriad experiences?

You can get a notebook and write them. You can sketch or paint them after the fact. Talk into a recorder

One of my daughters called hers My Experience Book. You may not be remembering dreams, but you can still take advantage of all the insights your brain is storing up and passing to you in various ways.

And if you happen to start remembering dreams, you can record them as well!

Have fun with this! Stay safe and well, my friends! Keep warm.

Truly,

Susan
