Life With AOSD
When they told me I had adult-onset Still’s disease, it felt like a life sentence. Little did I know that it might as well have been! This chronic illness has taken its toll on my body in more ways than one.
My pancreas was the first to be damaged; the loss of my spleen and liver damage were just added bonuses. I’ve since had to adjust my lifestyle in order to accommodate the pain, fatigue, and other symptoms of this dreaded disease.
But you know what? Even though it has taken a toll on my body physically, mentally, and emotionally - it hasn't been all bad! I'm learning how to be more mindful of how I take care of myself and that's something I'm truly grateful for.
The road hasn't been easy but it's a journey I must travel. To anyone else out there who is fighting adult-onset Still’s disease, stay strong - you've got this!
At the end of the day, I'm thankful for the strength this disease has helped me find. It has made me realize that even when life throws you a curveball, there's always something to be learned from it!
By understanding more about my condition, I'm slowly but surely reclaiming control over my life. No matter how much this illness has taken its toll on my body, I'm determined to make the best of it and live my life to the fullest.
After all, wellness is a choice - and I choose to stay vigilant in taking steps toward finding peace within myself. That’s why I'm writing this post today - to share my story, so others can find strength in knowing that they’re not alone.
It's not easy dealing with the physical and emotional effects of adult-onset Still’s disease each day, but I know there's hope on the horizon. Together, we can make a difference - one step at a time.
So let's keep on keeping on, and learn to appreciate the small victories along the way. Until then, stay strong and take care of yourselves!
Thank you for reading my story. ❤️
