Remembering the A & W and Other Things...

From MRS BUNDLE'S MIDNIGHT MYSTERY, Page 46, Mrs. Bundle's remembrances of Springfield, Vt's A & W Drive-In....

'Heretofore this tragedy, her own thoughts and memories of
Springfield were always pleasant: first, as a toddler with her mother, being completely fascinated by the Springfield Public Library’s gargantuan stuffed armadillo on display in the glass case; next, as a child with her parents on Sunday afternoon rides, traveling bumpy back roads that always ended at the A & W Drive-In with a special treat—always, a humongous, frosty root beer float and French fries; later, as a teenager, attending “away” football games on chilly fall afternoons at Riverside Park, their own team battling it out with the always-formidable rival, the Springfield Cosmos; then, as a young woman, experiencing the joy of classic films like Flower Drum Song, West Side Story, It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, or Exodus at the stylish Ellis Theater on Main Street; later on, as a family, she and Arthur taking the kids camping at nearby Stoughton Pond. Those were the glory days of Springfield, to be sure.'
