Money Bootcamp freed me from feelings of jealousy

MONEY BOOTCAMP REVIEW

What was your relationship to money like before joining Bootcamp?

My parents are divorced, so I’ve always had a scarcity mindset around money. My mom always told me things like “you have to stand on your own two feet” and “never depend on a man.” Because of this,  I always knew that I wanted to be independent financially, but it put me under a lot of pressure.

When I first started my business, my money mindset really manifested itself as fear. I thought I wasn’t making enough money and that I wouldn’t be able to take care of myself. I didn’t like how I was feeling. It was so overwhelming.

What was your money situation when you joined Money Bootcamp?

I was born in East Germany before reunification. Yet even now that we are one country, those who come from what was East Germany tend to have lower salaries than those who grew up in the West. We have different mindsets around wealth and abundance.

“The difference in thinking between the East and West in Germany hasn’t gone away in just one generation.”

Since joining Money Bootcamp, I was encouraged to raise my prices, which I did. But I think what I charge is still less than what someone who grew up in the West might ask for.

What’s your biggest “aha” since joining Money Bootcamp?

I was really negative about money and my business before I joined. I was always triggered by women who had high incomes. I felt like they were succeeding instead of me, not in addition to me. But then, one of the first things I noticed was a comment in the group. It said “I celebrate each woman’s success here because we are all riding the wave together. If I lift her up, one day it will be my turn.”

And I just thought, “Wow, you’re right.” I am not in competition with these women, they are not even in the same business as me. So I started to feel excited about it all instead of negative.

What’s it like working with Denise?
“It feels like we are best friends, although we’ve never met.”

She is so down to earth and authentic. She is very honest with you, which I like. I appreciate that talking about money can be a vulnerable topic, but she leads us with such grace. I feel like I know I can do the work and overcome my bad mindset because she has already done it and leads the way

Of course when you read Denise's books, you get a lot of information already. But, the difference for me in Money Bootcamp is to have community. I needed to have some kind of accountability for the work I was doing.

Why did you join Money Bootcamp?

I needed to learn more about myself. Because honestly, I was at a point where I didn’t even really like myself. I was behaving so badly, having feelings of jealousy when others were successful, stalling out in my own business … and I just thought, “Why am I acting like this?”

So it was a life changing thing for me to connect with other entrepreneurs and do the work to change my money mindset.

“I now have the tools to be more optimistic, more positive, and better serve the needs of my customers.”
How has your first year in Money Bootcamp been?

When I joined Money Bootcamp, I saw the people celebrating their first 10K month. I felt jealous in the beginning. And now I tell myself, that’s going to be me someday soon. I feel like now I have the tools to make that happen for my business.
