Storytelling Workshop & Book Signing on Saturday, July 2

Hello. My name is Tina. I am an introvert. Book signings are difficult for me as an introvert. Until I’m standing there. Then I realize I love talking to people about books. I get excited when introducing them to my characters. But, it’s getting to that point which takes careful negotiation of my introverted soul.

Put a workshop attached to it, and I’m much more in my element. I LOVE to teach. Hold still, I’ll teach to you from this huge bucket of things I know. Even jog a little, I can keep up and show you this nifty method for designing characters or making a maquette. How about creative thinking? 3D animation, modeling, rigging, lighting? Neuroscience of creativity? Too nerdy. Uh, programming? Definitely, very nerdy. I’ve run out a breath and you can jog away. Luckily, I have a classroom with a university where I can teach people. They don’t even jog away!

So, for this year’s book release, I am doing a storytelling workshop along with a book signing event. Where? At this wonderful place in town called, “Arts in the Burg” in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The place has studios for artists and a gallery. There are art workshops, gallery installations, art openings, music sometimes, and special events. Below you can find the info on it. Come out and join in on the fun. All workshops proceeds go to Arts in the Burg. I’ll have my fiction books there (all three) available for purchase.

Storytelling Workshop and Book Signing

July 2, 2 pm – 3:30 pm
Bring your imagination. Tina will bring the crayons.

Let’s create a story! We’ll uncover ways to develop unique stories for animation, games, films or graphic novels. Then, we’ll learn how to support those story ideas with visual language. In this workshop we will create thumbnailed storyboards (stick figures are a-okay!) and pitch our ideas to the class. Team up for even more fun.

Signed copies of Dark Drink, Absolute Darkness, and When Darkness Begins will be available for purchase.

Tina O’Hailey is an author and animation professor.
