Just finished reading "The Rise and Reign of the Mammals - A New History From the Shadow of the Dinosaurs to Us' by Steve Brusatte, released by Mainer Books.
I greatly enjoyed reading Brusatte's "The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs" a few years back, so I eagerly looked forward to reading his followup about the age of life after his sweeping history of how dinosaurs evolved, thrived, and faded into extinction. Brusatte has written a sweeping history of how mammals evolved during the reign of dinosaurs and how mammals filled the void after the asteroid impact that wiped out the terrible thunder lizards. He deftly explores how changes in climate caused a majority of the extinctions of mega-fauna, and how migration and continental drift brought mammals to every ecological niche here on the planet.
A comprehensive natural history.
