GO, WENT AND GONE – ALMOST
It’s Vaudeville I’m talking about. How about you? Vaudeville was where tomorrow’s stars teethed. Wikipedia says it’s “a mixture of specialty acts such as burlesque comedy and song and dance” to which I’ll add, mostly on a live stage. What better way to hone one’s skills than playing every different weekend at a different town. A hard life no doubt, but one that I’ve always wanted to experience. Nowadays, it is no film rather than the live stage, and storytelling with “special effects” rather than comedy, song and dance. Which brings me to what I REALLY want to post about: Setsuko Tsuchiya and I have just begun working on our dance number for the K. Simmons Production of A. G. As all good dancers know, dance is the frosting on the cake of good music, so we’ve been working to locate the perfect tune to which to dance. And, Voila! After days of research, we came up with a totally unique, 100+ year old public domain piece that just fits. But even better news our dear friend, musician Leon Siu, after hearing it, agreed to re-record it with the help of his friend and studio manager, Pierre, with his musician-partner Malia registering it as our own music. Excited! I’ve never in my life have I owned a piece of music, and this one is extraordinary, promising to be our signature music and dance! We first appeared on film as background dancers in FANTASY ISLAND 1998 – Episode 4 – “Dying to Dance” – (39.00 through 42.00 minute mark). Recently, I choreographed and danced a short sequence with actress Jerri Lynn Endo (“Ginny”) in the made-for-television movie STATIC (1.27 through 1.41). And, now we’re ready for our big film debut in FINDING KATE!
