The Super Power of Reading
I’ve always been a reader, always a learner. I love it because there always seems more to learn and do—it makes life more interesting in my opinion. These days, it seems like we have to constantly read just to keep up. And not only read, but sift through our sources to determine if what we are reading holds any grain of truth. It can be exhausting, but it is also necessary to stay aware. Think of it like a super power.
My day job requires me to keep up-to-date on current events and know what is going on in the world on a variety of levels. This keeps me informed but in my conversations with those around me I begin to realize just how rigorous this piece is with our lives, not to mention our interests. We are all living lives, working jobs, taking care of loved ones, and just trying to make it to the next day. Sometimes the thought of keeping up with all of the events going on in the world is simply exhausting, overwhelming and depressing. That being said, it is also important for the well-being of our world.
So what is the point of all this? I’m not here to lecture anyone but I will say that each one of us contributes to our collective destiny. It doesn’t hurt to be well informed but it does hurt to be uninformed. Ignorance is not bliss for long.
Happy writing this week!
