A LITTLE BIT OF NOTHING GOES A LONG WAY
LET’S face it: Information overload is here to stay. And much of it is spun, hoodwinked, tainted, biased or just plain untrue. I’m for a day — today — without any digital news. Nothing. Nada. And a little bit of nothing, I think, will go a long way to regaining my balance. My center. Especially in this unbalanced world. Think “The Qatsi Trilogy – Koyaanisqatsi/Powaqqatsi/Naqoyqatsi” (Hopi for “life out of balance”) — https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009D004MC. Then think THE EDGE OF MADNESS (Aignos 2020) by Raymond Gaynor — https://www.amazon.com/dp/0999693859.
A moment of silence in a world of strife. A brief human respite. What’s that worth in today’s world? Now, I’m not denigrating the importance of being aware of what’s going on across the planet. I am, however, appealing for a Mental Health Moment, so I can continue to take in the pain and suffering we humans are causing others, including the animals, plants, even the earth — Gaia — our Mother Earth. What other animal incessantly destroys that upon which it totally relies? A break from this insanity every so often is necessary to remember how sanity feels.
So what will I do today? I plan to tend my tomato and orchid plants. Relax and enjoy a vegetarian brunch [I hear the animals of the earth cheering; the plants not much so], go for a long walk, converse face-to-face with my life partner, sing a song together, maybe just cuddle for awhile under a warm blanket. Why not? Isn’t LIVING life — the journey — what life’s about? And I mean “real” rather than “virtual” life? Call me revisionary, reactionary, impudent, undeserving, crass or just a man desperately needing a little respite, but for just one day, I want to do the living for which so many around the globe are dying.
The Edge of Madness
