Published in 2021. Thriller. Jack Reacher is on the road again literally. While walking to the next town, he comes across a car accident. A Jeep has run off the road and inside is a woman who looks injured. He goes over to help and finds himself at the wrong end of a gun. The woman was waiting for someone who could tell her about her brother, Michael, who’s missing. She knew he was involved in something bad and knew these men were also bad, so she set up the fake accident to surprise them. Jack can’t help himself and gets involved. The woman is Michaela twin sister, Michaela, and is an Army Veteran, but worked for the FBI until recently. She quit her job to find her brother because she knows he’s in trouble.
The author has collaborated with his brother on yet another book. This one is written in a very different style. It’s choppy with very short sentences, but the story flows. In addition, I didn’t care for the technique of using a dramatic scene from later in the book as the inciting incident in the beginning. Several authors use it, but I don’t like it.
