Guest Blog: Lucy Felthouse - I Write Romance, Too!
Ever since I started writing for
publication, I've thought of myself as more of an erotic writer.
However, when I recently sat down and looked at my publications and
the genres they fall into, I thought – hey, I write plenty of
romance, too!
So that's what I'd like to talk about
today on this super blog. Erotic romance in all its different guises.
I say different because of course no two stories are ever the same,
and this is particularly true of the six releases I'm going to
mention.
Why? Take a look for yourself:
Bite
with Height is a lesbian paranormal erotic romance
set in Paris, the perfect place for vampires to live ;)
Succubus
Comes Home is a m/f paranormal erotic romance with
succubae and incubi.
Loose
Ends is a m/f contemporary erotic romance about a
passionate reunion.
LoveThrough Time is a m/f paranormal erotic romance
set in a stately home with lots of links with the past.
Susie
White and the Right Hand Man is a m/f contemporary
fairy tale – a retelling of Snow White and the Huntsman.
The
Cottage in the Woods is a lesbian paranormal
erotic romance set... yes, you've guessed it, in a cottage in the
woods with shapeshifters abound.
A glance at my upcoming releasesreveals more romance, not least my first ever novella, called Off
the Shelf, which will appear next month in the Silk
Stockings anthology from Xcite Books. This is one
of my favourite stories, about a travel writer and a bookseller.
They're attracted to one another, but Annalise is terrified of
rejection, and Damien is very shy – will they get it on, or are
they doomed to remain on the shelf?
I guess that the more I write, the more
I'm exploring different storylines and methods of writing, and I'm
finding myself drawn to longer pieces with more complex plots. This
in itself lends to romance more, because who wants to read an 80,000
word novel that is literally back-to-back sex scenes, with no actual
plot? There's got to be something holding the sex together, and
giving a reason for it. And what better reason than love?
