It appears that I've found the key to not being called in to sub: Wake up at 5:30am, shower, shave, brush teeth, get hair into that mythical "good hair day" state, dressed in slacks, dress shirt, actually pull off a Windsor knot with my tie, have breakfast, and be fully awake at alert by 6:30am when the call to sub usually comes in.
