Truly Happy

I read an article this past week about wanting less and satisfaction and how we are basically programmed to want and always try for more. There was nothing in this article that I found incredibly surprising, but it was well written and the tone really made me think. How could I not? Each day, I feel absolutely blessed to live the life I lead and I can’t Imagine what it must be like for those who either aren’t living their best life or—and just as important as the mind effects so much—they feel like they aren’t happy living the life they lead.

So what was so thought-provoking from this article? It talked about deciding what truly makes you happy—not the exaggerated, materialistic things but what creates long-term happiness. It also talked about a reverse bucket list although it’s going to take a few more reads for me to truly understand what this means. And lastly it talks about going smaller which I absolutely understand. It’s something I talk to my husband about all the time and something I ask myself daily. Do we need all that we have? Why is it that we need versus what we want?

I really do believe that true happiness is one of life’s greatest mysteries. I also believe that most of us find it on a daily if not weekly basis in the small interactions that we have with those we love and care about. I also believe that when we are truly happy that we are our best selves for both ourselves and for those around us.

Happy writing this week!
