Important to Cope
Life feels crazy, but then I have to ask myself, “Does it ever not feel crazy?”I don’t know about you all but the pace of my life is always go go go. I don’t have time to stop and think half the time. I don’t have time to go slow.
A week or so ago I had a bout of poor decision making and stepped on my 10 year olds Hoverboard. Well, you can imagine it didn’t end well and let’s just say I’m happy to be nursing a battered and bruised elbow versus a broken arm. Who has time to deal with a broken arm? Not any moms that I know.
but seriously, where is all of this talk leading? Well, with all of this go go go I have my fair share of anxiety that I have to cope with. And I have to cope with it because others depend on me both at my job and in my home. But none of us are super heroes. We have flaws and we need rest and we need relaxation and we need that time to go slow.
This week I looked up coping with anxiety and a list of best practices came up. The list recommended I get enough sleep, I eat well, I practice relaxation techniques, I exercise, and I take a time out among other things. When I considered what I actually do I realized that while I may do some of these things occasionally I can rarely do all of this consistently. And that may be my problem. And while that problem hasn’t pushed me off course too much up until this point the truth is it could in the future.
So how do we deal with all of this? We have to take care of us. A bit of time today that we forgo may be a huge amount of time in the future that we just can’t afford to lose.
Happy writing this week!
