Thoughts and Flashes

I've been hanging around for a while now, creating forums and profiles here and there, getting lost in the mire as more and more are appearing.

I am coming to the conclusion that being an author is a full time job :) The sad thing is that, with my actual job, and having to spend SOME time with family, friends and my kids, there just isn't time to write, and, when I do I have so much else in my head the creativity is... not stifled but hampered maybe. I have to work harder to get the juices flowing.

My blogger blog nephylim-author.blogger.com is giving me a lot of pleasure. I'm having lots of hits, on average 1000 a month which I am proud of, and looking for pictures and articles is fun, although again the creativity is drying up a little the more other things I have to do.

I have joined a flashing group. No, nothing to do with taking my clothes off I can assure you, I want to attract readers not drive them away. It's about writing a flash of no more than 1000 words every Wednesday with everyone in the group linking to everyone else.

It's a way to attract attention and readership and also, to make friends, which is one of the very best things to have come out of the authorship lark.

Not only that, but it has presented some awesome opportunities for me. The group itself have published two anthologies to be coming out soon, and I have made submissions for three other anthols I would never have known about, let alone written for without my links.

Networking works, even when you're as bad at it as I am.

I have never been able to promote myself, I find it embarassing to talk about my work, as if it was as good as anyone else's but this has really helped me and I can heartily recommend that, if you get a change to join a group of this kind, you do so.

Is there anyone reading my blog, I wonder. Do I care? Hmm... I dont know
