Born into a poor but loving mining family in the United Kingdom, Cheryl grew up in the beautiful and history rich South Wales Valleys, becoming the first in her family to attend university. Practicing law, as a family lawyer for over twenty years allowed Cheryl to learn more about human nature at its worst and best moments, and develop empathy and a view of life not limited by social standing or background.

Tapping into the heritage of her people that throughout Earth's ages welcomed the wandering bard into the hearts of their villages as keepers of lore,Cheryl trained as a Druid and brings the richness of her Celtic past and spiritual training to elevate her writing. Writing is like breathing to me, something I have to do and that comes completely naturally. I get very stressed and even depressed if I can't write, so I always have pen and paper, if not my laptop.

My advice to anyone with writer's block is just to write. Doesn't matter what. Write nonsense, write poetry, write a letter, write a journal. Anything. No expectations, no deadlines, no pressure. Just write for the sake of writing.(less)

I pour everything I have into my writing; good and bad. I laugh with my characters, and cry with them too. I feel what they do and they live constantly in my head. Someone once said that I share my life with a head full of beautiful, broken boys, and I guess that's the best thing. (less)

UK Meet

So, the UK Meet was last weekend and I still haven't got over it. How did it go? Hmm.

It started and ended in disaster and a big bang - literally.

The night before I left for the Meet our hamster died and, needless to say, we didn't get much sleep.

I woke in the morning to enormous crashes and a howling dog. Cue massive thunderstorm. In between calming my son and shouting at the dog, I realized th... Read more of this blog post »
