There is often a stupor: you need to come up with a new idea for a website, a favicon, a slogan or an app. But there are no ideas. What to do? How To Come Up With Ideas?
The first way to come up with an idea is morphological analysis
You need to draw a cube, each side of which is divided into 8 small parts. You get a cube that is made up of small other cubes. What to do next? The next thing is to come up with ideas, for example: we want to come up with a new way of getting around. To be able to start from something, we have to specify something. On one edge we write a way of getting around: standing, in a chair, in a hammock, lying down, etc. On another facet, we write the source of energy: wheel, internal combustion engine, electricity, etc. On the next facet, write the medium where we will move – wings, ropes, on the ground, etc.
At the intersection of the sides of the cubes and meet our interest, new combinations and what does not yet exist. Of course there will be repetitive solutions: moving sitting down with a steam engine on the rails is a locomotive. I’m sure this method will give us a chance to look at the problem from a new angle and come up with something new: in one of the cells we’ll find a jet engine device that moves underwater, with people lying on couches. This gives us the idea of underwater travel at high speeds.
Bisociation is a powerful way to come up with new ideas
It’s done this way: you write any 6-7 word answers on the right, taken from a dictionary, newspaper, magazine, or said by a colleague. For example, we need to come up with a new concept for a chair. And we start “colliding” these words with the chair. This may take some time, but it is possible to “birth” a new idea, new material, etc.
Moodboard helps web designers
Looking for an idea, look at the pictures, paste the liked picture in Photoshop, and then add new pictures. So you create a completely new picture. This solves a lot of problems – styling, colors, branding, creates a mutual understanding between the customer and the web designer, etc. It’s cheap and cool! Great way to find lots of new ideas for your work.
Mental maps (mind maps)
In the center you write the required concept, for example – website design, or an online store of nautical things. Then, all the words and associations are written on the sides of the center. If ideas come up, relative to the association, these words are written on the side of that association. A lot of useful information fits into a minimum of space.
In everyday life, people are hampered by blockages to come up with new ideas. These are blockages of perception, blockages associated with professional activities, cultural blockages associated with place of birth. We need to be aware of them and push the boundaries of blockages.
