False Prophecies: Responding Correctly to a False Prophecy
False prophecies and the utterance of a false prophecy does not need to distract, demoralize, deter or deny you from God's best.
Never let false prophecies or a false prophecy abort your God given dreams, nor dislocate you from your destiny.
Jesus forewarned us about false prophecies and false prophets. We should not be caught off guard by a false prophecy.
Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:15).
False prophecies usually come from people with impure motives, foul intentions and a bit of their own ego at play to manipulate you in an attempt to exert their will over you.
Immature believers in Christ sometimes also dive into giving a false prophecy in an attempt to prove they can hear the voice of God and be a mouthpiece for God. Sometimes these young babes in Christ have pure hearts and truly want to be a source of encouragement for people, but haven't really heard from God, but because they so WANT TO HEAR FROM GOD AND BE USED BY GOD, they move out ahead of God and try to speak for the Lord, when God is nowhere in it, nor to be found in the situation.
Silence from heaven isn't always a bad thing. In fact, silence from heaven means we as human beings should do what we know to be best for our lives and therefore should follow the leading of our own hearts and minds in accordance with what we know to be right in regard to holy Scripture.
Yet the Bible never tells us who to marry, where to live, what car to buy, nor where to work. Thankfully God created human beings with free will, volition and ability to choose.
Anybody who tries to remove these via a false prophecy has missed the heart of God altogether and are operating in witchcraft (sometimes unbeknownst to themselves and by reason of their own spirituality immaturity and ignorance).
False prophecies in the last days are abounding and many, as fewer people are taking the time to read the Bible for themselves.
I recently heard of false prophets in Brazil deceiving people with numerous fanatical lies, visions and illusory angelic visitations. Heck, even the devil comes as an angel of light (2Corinthians 11:14).
It's not that I don't believe in angelic visitations, heavenly visions or supernatural manifestations. On the contrary, I wholeheartedly believe in them and have experienced many of them myself personally.
Yet Jesus said, "You will know a tree by its fruit." Therefore when I hear of false prophecies and prophets in Brazil (or anywhere else for that matter) being given with the INTENT to get a bigger offering, manipulate someone to date or marry them, move to another place, hastily do something in fear apart from common sense, etc. I know God is not in any of it.
God said to "renew your mind" with the holy Scriptures (see Romans 12:1-2) not remove your mind.
A brother in the Lord once said "If I did not... I was going to lose my wife and house." Thankfully his prophecy has yet to happen (some years now) and I am still connected to God.
Of course most true prophecies are conditional (upon your participatory obedience or disobedience ...the latter if it's an undesirable prophecy warning you about danger on the horizon should you fail to repent, readjust and alter your course of direction in keeping with that which is pleasing to God).
When a wonderful sister in the Lord recently said to my wife, "You're going to have a boy" (speaking of a baby) she meant well. Yet it freaked my wife out, since she had been praying for and proclaiming by faith she was going to have a girl.
Nevertheless my wife isn't even pregnant at the moment. Neither was Abraham for quite some time. Yet the desire of Abraham's heart was to have a son (a boy), a desire which God in His faithfulness fulfilled.
God promises us when we delight in Him that we too shall receive the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). Therefore when false prophecies come that are contrary to your own desires, do not align with Scripture, or have a feeling of pseudo-spirituality, pride, arrogance and a hint of subtle manipulation tied thereto...reject them and don't be doubtful in your own heart.
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin and he who doubts is damned already (Romans 14:26), since the double-minded person is unstable in all their ways (James 1:8).
Therefore you stay true to WHO YOU ARE, the desires of your heart, what God has spoken to and shown you and don't be dismayed, discouraged or diverted by false prophecies.
I don't care if the false prophecy came from sister sandpaper, or brother wonderful who is in church 5 days a week.
I don't care if the false prophecy came from the Pope in Rome.
I don't care if the false prophecy came from some televangelist on TV.
If the words uttered and spoken don't agree with the character and nature of God (not just WHAT is said, but also HOW it is said) then disregard the false prophecy and go forward with God yourself.
Be true to your own heart and remember Jesus speaks to His own sheep who He calls by name and leads inwardly by His Holy Spirit (see John 10:27; 14:26).
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit after the resurrection to live in every disciple's heart who gives heed to His Word (John 14:16-17) and the Holy Spirit has much to say to us (John 16:12) if we will take time to quiet our souls and listen.
Moreover the Holy Spirit will speak and show us (by visions and dreams) things to come in our lives -- that is the Holy Spirit will show us the future and tell us concerning His plans for our lives (see John 16:13; Acts 2:17).
Therefore when false prophecies show up (usually through flaky people), don't be alarmed. Jesus forewarned us and we should not be surprised about false prophecies.
Just settle it in your heart to know the mind, will, heart and character of God by reading His Word for yourself, sensitizing your heart to the Holy Spirit, being prayerful and inwardly connected to your Creator so you can hear the voice of God yourself and be led into your own personal promised land as you daily befriend God.
