Describing the slasher as a justice fantasy is super interesting. Most slasher characters have always struck me as the giggling or compulsive sadist, and the audience’s joy from the kills as a kind of bloodlust release. Which in a sense they are. But you’re right, most slashers do have a relatable motive, even if they behave unrelatably. Which is maybe the point you’re making? That while yes we have been socialized, a part of us still dreams of pushing Trump in front of a train, or snapping Rupert Murdoch’s oh so fragile neck. And so on some dream anger level, we do relate to the slasher’s behavior.
