80 Years Ago—Aug. 6, 1941: US Navy PBY Catalina and PBM Mariner aircraft based in Iceland begin patrols over the North Atlantic.

Lt. Gen. Wladyslaw Anders is appointed to form a Polish army in the USSR, but the army will never be allowed to fight.
