A Murder Amongst the Serenity

description

Murder at Sunrise Lake is the first standalone in years, and I wanted to write a murder mystery for so long I was so happy when everything came together.

The book is a thriller, a mystery and in my opinion it’s downright eerie. Add in a slow-burn romance and this book is exactly everything I wanted! Lol

I’ve always known the Eastern Sierra is a place of nature, peace and revitalization. I have a daughter who is very active and loves to hike, boulder and camp. She would go out on these adventures and then talk about the serenity of where she’d been. I felt it was wonderful that people could go somewhere like that to feel reinvigorated and grounded in nature. But then my mind started to wander, as it often does, to the “what if” and the dark question – What if a serial killer wanted to feel reinvigorated? What if he found his way to the beautiful place? What if he ensconced himself into the community? What if he made friends and became trusted there? What if he just couldn’t stop killing?

Yeah…I went there.

It’s this juxtaposition of serenity and terror that intrigued me.

If you can imagine going somewhere away from the modern world. A place where you can have adventure and find peace, so you make friends there and start a new life. You can see these beautiful vistas, all different kinds of terrains, beauty that takes your breath away and it calms your soul. Then, imagine evil weaving itself into that tapestry. You wake up and just know something or someone evil has come into that sacred place. Worse yet, it’s someone close to you…you just don’t know who.

I imagined that. And now it’s a novel. Lol I hope you enjoy Murder on Sunrise Lake! It will be released June 29, 2021!

What do you do to find peace in your life?

Adaiah I've always found this scenario interesting. Do you really know your neighbor? We see it on the news all of the time. The neighbor's an abuser, a murder, or sociopath. The neighbors always say, "He seemed to be a nice guy, quiet, but not to friendly, or a loner." I can't wait to read MOSRL.

Joan I am so very excited to read Murder at Sunrise Lake. Suspense is one of my favorite genres and coming from your talented imagination, I know I will be swept away.

April Mcmillan I get in my car and drive around the city I live in, listen to nature, park somewhere to take in nature, visit one ir two favorite places where I can listen to a stream; river; or waterfall and close my eyes and soak the sounds in. As I love rain I get my greatess peace when its pouring rain and I go outside and take it in from the balcony or listen from inside as it seeps into my soul and washes all thoughts away.

Julie I read and let the characters be stressed instead of me--I am NEVER not reading something. If I have nothing new I want to read, I will reread one of your books, or sometimes just read my favorite parts of several of them.

I am so psyched to read MASL! I will have 2 days to read it before I'm off to visit a friend for the weekend. I haven't seen her in over a year due to the pandemic and I won't get much reading done while catching up on things.

Marybelle Actually, I read a book! For peace and tranquility I look for old fashion, simple romances. I like authors like Betty Neels and those from the Love Inspired stories. Nothing dramatic, gaudy, or terrifyingly evil. Just, people, relationships and romance. It’s even better if I can go outside to read in peace. For excitement, I read one of your books (LOL)!

Exactly! How well do you really know those you surround yourself with. It's interesting...and a little scary. LOL

I have a little device that plays different sounds like rain, ocean, water, etc. I love it! Very soothing.
