Let's have a look at the snippet from the second book in Jenna's Time Enough to Love series where The Worst Betrayals Come From Within... After learning that her beloved Geoffrey has been forced to marry another woman, Alyse is talking to Geoffrey’s best friend, Thomas, about her best option going forward--marriage to him.
Snippet:

He moved his hands behind her head, cupping the thick locks of hair, pulling her face toward his. She trembled as his warm lips met hers, but forced herself to stillness. ’Twas only a kiss, after all.
Thomas brushed his lips against hers, a sweet sensation that eased her fears. 
He would not expect more than she could give.
