Now I am getting really curious what you are writing about Hugo de Groot, Jeanne! The man in the chest!
I had answered your last comment, Hanneke, but the comment doesn't seem to have saved, or else I've managed to add it in the wrong place!!I wanted to say he fitted in well (to the chest) without his books - but the choice was freedom, or books . . . maybe one last lingering look at that comfortable little cell . .

Hah, I did indeed not see your comment, Jeanne! Such an intriguing story about that chest! I am surprised you know about it though. That’s getting into details about Dutch history!
That book went its own sweet way! It appeared initially in monthly instalments on the community website, under the title, "Calling The Shots". I had to write to a deadline and didn't plan anything! I revised very little later on, but changed the title.De Groot's appearance was pure accident and I then researched him.
Enjoy dipping in and out of it!

Thanks you for appreciating the availability note. I had the lovely experience in the Co-op today of someone telling me they were reading "Amadan" ! A neighbour here also read it, but she took it in easy stages. It falls into six parts, and she felt the need of a break between them!
It was written over twenty years ago, so I am slightly apologetic about it these days! But some of the characters are real, such as Hugo de Groot from your neck of the woods. I tried to be respectful towards them!
