This is a WIP.
"That's right." His father met his gaze.
He wanted to see Eastyn. It was the reason he was here, but he wanted a plan their meeting in a neutral spot, not show up at her place as the handyman. It didn't seem like the best way to see someone you left behind and hope to apologize and be forgiven.
He cleared his throat. "You don't have something else I can work on?"
His father seemed to consider this for a moment.
"The project out at Mrs. Van Gleason's involves tearing up the foundation. A pipe broke and needs replacing."
(A little more to finish the scene.)
"Oh," he said and couldn't keep the deflated hope from escaping as well and revealing the project would be more than he could handle.
"If you don't want to help out, you don't have to, son," his father gave him in out. "It's just you offered," he added with a shrug.

She wants to know if Drake is home for good, or will he break her heart all over again?
