The Liebster Blog Award
Evidently the Liebster Blog Award originated in Germany. Liebster means dearest or beloved, and Liebe is love. The award is to encourage readership of small, lovable blogs with fewer than 200 followers.
Many thanks to Paula Martin for this "lovely" award. I'm delighted you think my blog is "lovable."
In keeping with the award's meaning, here are five "lovable" snippets about me you might not know:
1.I love proper Yorkshire fish and chips. The batter has to be thin and crisp and they have to be fried in dripping, not oil, and accompanied by real mushy peas (not the bright green ones out of a tin).
2. I love Granada, home of the magnificent Alhambra Palace. The old Albaicín quarter is a maze of tiny winding streets and little squares, each with its own unique village atmosphere. I also love Hania in Crete with its wonderful ambience and Venetian buildings. Oh, and Paris and Rome and Durham and York......
3. I love Stephen King and John Wynham and Kate Atkinson and Joanne Trollope and Maeve Binchy.....
4. I love the wonderful mountain scenery in Andalucia. I love going to the market in a nearby village and meeting all my friends and catching up on the gossip.
5. I love my home, my wonderful husband, Vic, Tess the Wonder Dog, Geri the Princess Cat, my sons and their lovely partners, my four fabulous grandchildren and all my friends. May they all live forever.
Okay, and now I have to pass this award on to 5 other lovable bloggers:
Tara Fox Hall, my friend and fellow contributor to Spellbound 2011, who is ever staunch in her support and encouragement.
Lynette Sofras, another English author of tremendous talent, who is always ready to help and advise.
Mysti Parker, author of “A Ranger's Tale”, unfailingly generous and supportive to other authors.
John Mecom, another Spellbound author. He doesn't blog, but he is always ready with support and praise.
And finally, Nancy Schumacher, head of Melange Books, who manages to always be there for her authors, despite having two jobs and a demanding family.

I love your lovable snippets. Yorkshire fish and chips, eh? My parents used to like Harry Ramsdens - ever eaten there?

I have eaten in the Oxford Harry Ramsdens and I have to say, although it was a great improvement on the other fish & chip places south of Yorkshire, it was still not as good as almost any fish & chip shop in Yorkshire itself. In my exhaustive search for decent fish & chips outside Yorkshire I have only come across three places that were up to snuff - Stony Middleton in Derbyshire, Harlepool and Whitby. I love you loads, too

Time to confess two shocking facts about me (shocking only because I'm a Yorkshire 'lass'): I don't drink tea and I don't eat fish and chips! I might have been swapped at birth.Oh dear, I do hope that's not the end of our beautiful romance!!
Aaarrrggghhh!!! Actually, I don't drink tea either. Do you actually not like fish & chips? Or do you avoid them because they're fattening?

But I really dislike batter - it's just grease bubbles! And the thing that really gets to me is that when you eat them in company or go into one of our famous 'chippies' people will insist on putting vinegar on them and that poisons the atmosphere for me! Ugghh! Am I weird? (Don't answer that).
Yeah, you're weird! But I love you anyway!
Good job it's mutual - a girl could take offence, you know!
