Paul Great to see some love for Gobbolino the Witch's Cat in this interview! That was a very big book for me as a kid. Might have to give it a re-read...

Cool! I've actually not read it since I was a kid as I'm worried the magic will be gone. But I probably will reread it soon actually! Thanks Paul. Hope you're doing well.

Paul Likewise! I actually bought a copy for my niece who reluctantly admitted to my wife shortly afterwards that she was too scared to read it. That was a couple of years ago now, so I might have to ask her if she's been brave enough to tackle it yet!

Ha! I don't remember being particularly scared by it. But I can certainly remember the magic I felt when reading it.

Paul No, it don't remember it scaring me, either, but she may have been thinking it was darker than it actually is, I suppose.

Ha!

Jason I have to admit that this is a book I've never read, I'm sure you've told me before to read it though, might have to put a bit more effort in and look for a copy?

I don’t know about my niece but I’d definitely be up for that one.

Jason Decided I might buy this for my youngest's Christmas, that way I can read it too.

Sneaky.

Rebecca Gransden Lovely interview and gnome artwork! I haven't thought about Gobbolino in a long time. I remember following the story as it was serialised in a magazine called Storyteller, which came with an audio cassette to listen to or read along with the magazine. Very magical.

Yes! Rebecca, I had those magazines and tapes! It was those that made me want the book. Talk about a blast from the past...

Amazingly illustrated as well. I still remember some of the stories featured quite vividly.

Harry Whitewolf "Lovely interview and gnome artwork!"

Many thanks Becs!

I seem to have unwittingly caused a resurgence of interest in Gobbolino. At this rate, there'll be an animated Christmas special within a year.

And... Ooh, hark at you two with yer fancy Gobbolino tapes and magazines... When I was a lad, I used to get up before I went to bed to read Gobbolino on a used piece of toilet roll my father had used by candlelight.

Jason Pfft you had it easy, we were sooooo poor I had to read the words written in the coal, which wasn't as easy as you'd think because we couldn't afford coal, I had to read it on the coal over at the Whitewolfs in their mansion.

You had it easy. We were so poor, all I had to eat were the pages of Gobbolino the Witch's Cat and I had to wait twelve hours to digest them every 24 hours while my father beat me with a broomstick before fishing amongst my faeces to read the words.

Jason You had it really easy mate, we were too poor to afford "digesting" the pages would just sit in my stomach until me Dad used a blunt wooden spoon to cut me open and read my entrails by moonlight....and I tell you what, I was glad to have that happen.
