The Seer and the Scribe is finished!
To celebrate finishing The Seer and the Scribe, I took a very last minute trip to one of Oklahoma’s great state parks with my daughter and fellow author, A. G. Marshall. The Great Salt Plains State Park is a strange place. The salt is from an ocean that covered Oklahoma in prehistoric times, and the lake is about half as salty as the ocean. You drive through miles of farmland, then in the middle of nowhere, is this huge white plain.

Selenite crystals form in the salt plains, and they have designated areas where you can dig. I had the idea that the crystals would hard to find, but that is not the case. They are everywhere! In fact, you are allowed to remove up to ten pounds of crystals per day!

If you are ever in Oklahoma, it is worth the trip, but I do have one bit of advice. Don’t go in the middle of summer. It was about 70 degrees F when we went, and the sun reflecting off all that salt made it so hot! I can’t imagine what it would be like if it was 90 or 100 degrees.
