The Same

I’ve spent a lot of time writing about fear and our minds. My blog today was inspired by this and all my conversations of late (I spend all my days talking to people from all walks of life)—all the fear around us and all the fear that consumes us. Fear of what is different or unknown. Fear of what we assume will be an outcome or a result of certain behavior. Fear we are told we must have because our lives will change.

Today, I don’t want to focus on fear of any of these things, but I actually want to focus on the positive. I do this with my son a lot as he can be a bit of a pessimist and while I don’t expect to ever want to or even fully change him, I want him to be able to see multiple viewpoints… which actually brings me to the positive. We live in a world of differences in so many ways—animals, plants, people, places, colors, etc. and they are all so beautiful and interesting. We don’t see everything the same way and that only adds to our unique qualities. Each of us may have different foods we prefer or clothes we like. We may have music that just jives with us or perhaps we prefer to watch a specific genre of movies. This is diversity, these are differences and how boring would our world be without them?

I grew up in Virginia and spent the first 20+ years of my life complaining about rain and then I moved out to the desert for 10+ years and I began to appreciate what I had known and had. In the desert, I got tired of the sun and monotony of a blue sky. There were other things to admire but bottomline, I really began to understand why variety and change and differences are what make this world so wonderful.

So this blog is simply my opinion and not forced on anyone in the least. But I’d ask that you consider a monotonous world full of the same—the same meals everyday, the same scenery, the same music and the same movies, the same weather and everyone who agrees with us… is this really what you want?

Have a safe week and happy writing!
