A Bit of Hope
These past few weeks, like many of us out there, I’ve become just a tad bit more of a gardener. I wish I could say that I have a ton of talent in this area but I don’t. Still, I love being outside, I love looking at nature and seeing how plants grow and these days, there really is something so soothing about it all. Nature can be simple yet incredibly complex at the same time.
Lately, I’ve been trying to nurture a tree in our backyard. Sounds silly, but it started with me trying to find an arborist with no luck (just not a whole lot of responsiveness these days). As such, I decided to start researching and see how it’s going. Each day, I’ve watched more leaves drop but today, I noticed little buds surfacing. The tree is growing.
It’s strange, but for me, this just seemed very symbolic of our whole situation. We are stuck inside for the most part, folks have lost their jobs, people are sick and dying and it just seems like we are all holding on for a little bit of hope. A little sign that something is going to give and get better. This tree in our backyard just seemed to reflect this and although it seems the slightest thing, I can help bet believe the same is true for our country and our world. Nothing lasts forever and how could we live without hope?
Have a safe week and happy writing!
