The Magic of Absinthe - Desolation Road

descriptionHis psychic talent has been the most used throughout the series so far and it makes him intriguing now that he has his own book. I love that he’s this mystery, not just to readers, but to me. Writing Desolation Road was as much a journey for me as I hope it will be for the reader. Absinthe and Scarlet are an amazing couple who I feel are well matched on every level.

There are a lot of reveals in this book. Things I’ve always known were coming and soon I’ll find out what readers are most excited about when they discover it.

Absinthe doesn’t tell his brothers and sisters about the little librarian he’s been coming to see. He doesn’t even let Scarlet know he’s in a club at first. Not because he’s ashamed, but because he wants her to know him just as himself first. For a while she doesn’t even know his club name. So, you can imagine the scene when that gets revealed, right? LOL

description

Absinthe is very sexy. In my mind I see him so clearly. It’s not just his perfect body, handsome face or bad boy lifestyle. He is super brilliant. And to me, intelligence is sexy. This man is layered in sex appeal and Scarlet isn’t a silly girl. She sees it too. Unfortunately, her past and her plans don’t really align into having a relationship. So, our guy Absinthe has to use his considerable charm and training to convince her otherwise.

We find out what his intimate needs are and that was a discovery for me, too. It’s something that’s actually kind of popular though not something people talk about openly unless you’re in that lifestyle. Some people will love it, some won’t, but I hope people at least find it interesting.

description

Just like all of Torpedo Ink he has his tragic backstory that follows him and tries to crush any possibility of being in a relationship. Of being loved and accepted.

Absinthe has found a woman that has the potential of giving him everything. Now they just have to survive their past and the challenges of being together to get their happy ever after.

Sheila Great blog! I love this series!

wanda davisson Love all the Torpedo Ink books. And all Christine's other hooks also!

Maureen Gianinio Loved this couple! Yes, interesting sexual needs but you do an excellent job explaining it and his desire for it. And Scarlet has her own needs and is smart, she knows meeting his needs allows her to meet her own...love how her abilites confound him using his own. And they find their way as equals...must have been interesting to research 😁

Kelley White I could not put this book down! Lost some sleep but soooo worth it. I loved that they could come together and work together. I really liked that Scarlet was so strong, and had her own agenda, and wasn't going to give up her goals!

message 5: by Melony (new)

Melony Wise Meyer I absolutely love how this went, especially his sexual preferences. How each member of the club have their own “style” I guess you can say with that is so amazing and interesting. I love that you went that way with Absinthe, so different and I really appreciate that. This keeps each novel fresh and new, not the same thing over and over. Well done and thank you

You might be surprised at how popular his "need" is. There are a lot of communities who do that. Yes, the research was interesting. LOL

Debbie Mcknight Yes, Absinthe is magic also Scarlet, but as I was reading I see a woman like this would be great for Savage. One bad ads woman

Melissa Johnson-rothmund I love all of your series can’t pick a favorite ! Just starting Desolation Road but so intrigued by the entire group of characters the lifestyle and backstories. Each character makes me feel so much emotion. Just reread Czars and Blythe and could feel his pain. Each book gets better! Please keep all of the series going !!

message 16: by Amal (new)

Amal What I really loved about this book was that there was humor - I love all of these books but this one had real humor, like when he was explaining to Scarlet that Czar was the one who taught them their moral compass and he wasn't sure that was a good plan - or when Casimir admitted that Blythe nixed them training the kids. I howled. It was so funny.

message 17: by Karin (new)

Karin love Torpedo Ink, this new one is just as amazing as the others, but plz don't let us lose Savage, I know there is someone out there for him from experience :)

message 18: by Penny (new)

Penny Nichols pava Loved Desolation Road and Absinthe. I always re-read each book in a series when a new one comes out. Love the way each additional book expands on the knowledge we have of each character. The are always so interesting and complex. Can;t wait for the next one. I noticed that this is dubbed Book 4 of 5.....Please tell me that the series won't be ending at 5? Really want to continue reading about all these characters!!

message 19: by Andrea (new)

Andrea I still remember the first book I read by Christine - Wild Rain - and since then, she is has never disappointed in pulling me into each story and characters - Desolation Road did not disappoint. Felt like I was there with the characters and learning more about each one. The ONLY problem I have - same problem with all different series - is that after the book ends I can't help but thinking "what now?"! and I want the next book in the series right away! :)

message 20: by Marybelle (new)

Marybelle I totally love Desolation Road. Not just because of Absinthe and Scarlet and their relationship, but also how much we learn about the other characters. We see so much more about Savage, and what he has gone through. We see Alena and her past and what she has endured. I really liked Pierce before, but now I’m not so sure he’s right for our Alena. I love that some of the characters have resolved issues. That scene between Absinthe and Steele is beautiful. I’m wondering if Alena is the reason Destroyer was controlled during his incarceration? Also, Lana talks about what’s been broken can’t be fixed. Is that something with Ink? There’s always seems like a connection there. Desolation Road brings us in closer to the characters as people. Thank you for the look into each one.

message 21: by Carol L (new)

Carol L Cridge "Crashed the bridge" wow. I had tears. We got a little insight into how much these characters all depend on each other in "Judgment Road" when Reaper was ready to walk away for Anya. It was heartbreaking. Anya could feel & see the sorrow too, it was palpable, the devastation that it would cause all of them. Absinthe's brother let go-he decided. They all kept each other alive, one way or another, anyway they could. Together they are whole. Messed up, but whole. Each story is exciting and riveting. Always on the edge of my seat! Scarlet & Absinthe are perfectly matched. You gave us humor & laughs brilliantly intertwined in this story along with the tragedy of their existence. +Destroyer... umm, Hot. Thank you for another great addition to this series.

message 22: by Marybelle (new)

Marybelle I think one of the telling quotes in the book, I think it’s when Absinthe and Steele are talking, is when one of the characters said that they are 18 people but really 1. That connection and dependency is what keeps them going.

message 23: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Bhear I love all the Torpedo Ink books, Sisters of the Heart too. It shows you how they are all together as families to make their way & not lose their loyalty to each other along the way. Even if they start off a little uneasy about the new "other" who is being brought in by one of the true members, they always sort it out somehow. Although, there are times when you just roll your eyes & think if I were her I would get a frying pan and knock some sense into that man, but who doesn't, right? That's what you laugh about 2 minutes later, when you really think about it. If you tried to knock Savage with a fry pan, he'd have you hanging from the ceiling by your ankles reading you the riot act, for even thinking it. And there have been a couple times I have thought he could use an attitude adjustment! But, I don't think that would go over very well with him, you know. Talk about fireworks! Like I said, makes you laugh for even thinking it!

message 24: by Sher (new)

Sher Thanks so much for the escape. This book was a very fast read for me and I will probably be reading it again. Absinthe and Scarlet are a total match. I am also loving the interactions in this family. Blythe's reaction to the training of the children was classic. I can just imagine her face and the discussion with Czar at bedtime. Destroyer and Alena have history, will they have a story later? Is she the one that was held over his head to force his compliance? Just something I saw between her memories and what Czar revealed.
Thanks as always for your wonderful worlds. So needed the escape nowadays. I look forward to more from this and your other series. Be Safe.
