Why Does Exercise Hurt?

When you’ve just completed a workout you feel great, on top of the world and chuffed to bits. That is as long as you haven’t over done it.
Why is it then that the next morning you feel like you’ve been beaten up?
The theory was that it was a build up of lactic acid, but as this dissipates fairly rapidly it has been discredited.
Apparently ‘getting ripped,’ sometimes literally means, ‘getting ripped.”
Your muscle fibres when put under a strain that its not used to will very slightly tear. This is why it’s very important that after exercise you leave it a few days for your body to heal. Otherwise you could cause long lasting damage that may even scar causing the muscle to lose elasticity and strength.
Major muscle tears can result in bruising, swelling, a great deal of pain and a trip to the doctors.
The moral of the story is to always warm up before you exercise or you’ll end up wincing for a few days.

J.R. Barker I'm impressed though that you actually watch your exercise vids, I thought people bought them to keep their coffee stains and dust on.
I do love to dance but have never done any thing more strenuous than a bop to some music.
I just started rowing and I was shaking from head to toe and wondered if thats would be how jellyfish would feel if they were given bones for a day.
The next day I must admit I struggled to move if I'd been sat for a while. I was quite surprised to find that your muscle actually tears though. I felt a bit vindicated on that front, made me feel a smidge less pathetic.

Sharon you'll be amazed how many injuries you can occur with a workout hense why i don't do it much. These days i'm more prone to falling down the last step of the stairs hurting one foot or drinking a little too much & ending up with a pavement clinging to my ankles yep thats the only injuries i get these days! I've come to the conclusion now that when you reach a certain age you really can't be bothered with it all so hense like you say those i must have workout dvd's end up gathering stains & dust because the cover looks more apealing than the actual dvd itself.

J.R. Barker I always thought that exercise videos looks so much better on other peoples shelves.
Alcohol definitely has amazing properties, it increases the pull of gravity and makes the ground softer.
