Lyn Asks the June Question

Every month I ask a question because I want to know what readers are thinking. So what’s my question for June, you may ask? Here it is:
Do you always finish a book whether you’re enjoying it or not? Or do you put it away? Or throw it against the wall? ‘-)What kinds of thing causes you to stop reading or dislike what you’re reading?
This should be very interesting to me as an author! I try to write books that stick to your fingers, meaning you find it hard to put them down. I like to write books that call to you when you do put them down. So think over the question and let me know your thoughts!  BTW, I guarantee that the majority of my readers will be not be able to put my latest book down. Why not look at it and see what you think.
Thanks, Lyn

Helen I rarely DNF a book. Mostly that's because it takes a lot to get me to pick up the book in the first place. I have my go-to, proven authors, but for all the first-timers-to-me, I read the blurb, check the reviews, and if I'm interested enough, read the preview. Turn-offs are bad editing, uninteresting prose, and confusing situations. By the time I finish the preview--if I finish it--I have a pretty good idea whether I'll like it enough to invest the time. One thing I absolutely hate is a cliffhanger ending. If I've gone that far into a book's world, I want a satisfying ending for at least that story in a series.

Great feedback. I usually try to test a book the same way but sometimes it just doesn't pan out.
