Come With Me

Credit: Ratna Pochiraju
A chance meeting-Coincidence, deliberate, or destinyI never questionedAs strings tugged meTowards her.
Chestnut hair, white dress-All I can ever remember Since the day our paths crossedChanging my life’s directionTo chase her.
Blur, green, gray, or amber-I knew not the color of her eyesEven as her whispers echoedChaining my fate To follow hers.
Come with me-The words were a chantLuring me not to a paradiseBut to a reality stranger than lifeWhere I became her.
Real or illusion-It never did matterWatching the vision disappear Into the mossy aura aroundUrging me to trust her.
So trust I did-Waiting, enduring, survivingLiving her life and mineAs our fates entwinedPromising to free us both, together.
