Ah, PayPal, you can’t live with it, you wish you could live without it. So yesterday (with last-minute-entry double checking today) came the now monthly ritual journey to Ye Olde Transaction Summary to see if there were payments to enter in January’s ledger. Time was, of course, that PayPal told one when one received payments, but that was too easy and PayPal, ever desirous of keeping its clients tough, abolished that practice last year (cf. May 24). One must stay on one’s toes, the better to cope in the dog-eat-dog world of modern finance, that’s what PayPal might tell you! Survival accounting.
But anyhow, bottom line, January was not bad. Three payments received: From DAILY SCIENCE FICTION for “Steel Slats” (see December 20, et al.), SCARY SNIPPETS: HALLOWEEN EDITION for “Silent Scream” (November 11, this one a royalty), and — lightning quick! — DEEP FRIED HORROR: CTHULHU CHEESE BURGER (see post just below). Not a bad haul, the most from DAILY SF, to be sure, and enough combined for not just a nice lunch today but, with prudent shopping, groceries and even some treats for the month.
While for PayPal, headache as it sometimes might be, it does keep the writing life exciting.
