This is in Maverick's POV. Maverick and Rowan are driving to participate in a ghost tour. Maverick mentioned his old bandmate, Stevie, and his overdose.

This Week's Snippet Below.

"People make their own
choices, Maverick," she said softly. "Stevie probably wouldn't have
listened to you even if you did stay."

She had that right. He had
tried to reason with the bastard before he fired him. He'd been too pissed to
fight back and tell Stevie he wasn't leaving. By that time, he'd had enough of
the drama the guy brought into their lives.

When they arrived at the water
park entrance, there were already quite a few people standing at the side of
the road. He found a parking space and they walked back to the group.
Twenty-three were signed up for the ghost tour, according to Jared's list of
names.

Jared was tall, lean and in his late 40s with
thinning hair.
