Hello Darkness

A Novel by Sam Best Picture I don't remember where or how I came across Hello Darkness, by Sam Best. I'm thinking it was a freebie from some newsletter I received. All I knew was the cover was creepy and a lot of people were going to die.

So did I receive many deaths and gore, making Hello Darkness an awesome read?
#element-60582b00-566b-4660-b6fe-b89337aeec86 .waddons-blog-image.hideImage { display: none;} Picture Picture Hello Darkness, written by Sam Best, tells the story of Ben and Annabelle's homecoming. The town of Falling Rock is the place where it all begins. Where the beginning of the end begins.

I had a lot of trouble getting in to this book. It started off really interesting and I just knew a ton of action was going to kick off, but then it just fizzled out. I got details on people, that in the end, didn't really matter one bit, and the pace was arduous. Surprisingly, around 68% through  the action returned and didn't stop until right before the end! Once I reached the ending, I was like, "What? What happened there- I missed something!" I'm for real, the ending just... happened. And with the way it all took place, the Epilogue wasn't even necessary.

I can say this, when it got good, it was very good. The creatures, the traumatic fear, and the whole feeling of nothing but doom and gloom worked. Best did a darned good job, but then when the action should have peaked and brought the dynamite, it just died, leaving me stagnant.

Though I wasn't completely satisfied, I can read another of Best's books. He seems to like bringing to the world to its knees. That the sort of stuff I liked to read about. So mosey on over to Amazon and get this one. I promise, once the lag wears off, it's a good story. Cheers!
