Penric's Progress 3-novella collection on paper

So, the first three-novella collection on paper of the Penric tales, Penric's Progress, is now scheduled for a January 7, 2020 release by Baen Books.

Stories included are "Penric's Demon", "Penric and the Shaman", and "Penric's Fox".

Pre-orders now available in all the usual places, including Amazon and B&N, and your local bookstores and mine. (As usual, Uncle Hugo's and Dreamhaven will have signed copies available for mail order, in due course.)

Some fans have been begging for the stories in a paper edition ever since their first e-book release; so, here you go. (And now we'll see how many you really are...)

The second collection of 3, to be titled Penric's Travels, is scheduled by Baen for next May.

Also, the pretty Subterranean Press edition of "Knife Children", due out next February, is up for pre-order at SubPress, here: https://subterraneanpress.com/knife-c...

One of the reasons "The Flowers of Vashnoi" was sold out on release was that the pre-orders were modest, and so the print run was adjusted accordingly. When a bunch of last-minute extra orders came in (mainly from online vendors, I gather, which I translate to "Amazon", who is now sold out btw), it was Too Late. SubPress's (careful and successful, for a small press) business model is for one limited printing and that's it. So you may want to get your orders in early, "while supplies last" as they say.

Though I do see SubPress still has some of the leatherbound "Flowers" available. And Uncle Hugo's and Dreamhaven bookstores here in Minneapolis still have stocks of the trade edition, signed.

Huh. I was seeing it as "remote". It will be interesting seeing what sort of Rorschach-art this cover proves.

Heather-Lin This is WONDERFUL!! I didn't realize the Penric novellas had never been printed before, no wonder I could never find them at the library ;)

The cover is indeed arresting! I love everything about it, the color palette, the font, the classic looking border around the art. And the art, wow. Desdemona is gorgeous, an intensity of knowledge and agenda, truly a force to be reckoned with. I'd say Penric looks... Propelled. Possibly overwhelmed. Heehee

J.M. Ney-Grimm This is wonderful news! Perfect birthday gift for a friend who I know would love Penric!

Kurt I preordered Knife Children in hardcover last night and am looking forward to it.

Mike Garrison My library ordered Flowers Of Vashnoi. Then holds were cancelled because they were told the book was not available. When I inquired, they checked again and found they were able to order it.

Sounds complicated.

They have been printed (in limited runs). Just not in a compiled form.

Yep, there's a number of things could be going on there. The library might have located another vendor. Or some returns showed up, so that the not-sold-where-they-were volumes might be shipped out again.

Book distribution is an arcane affair.

(If your library hits another snag, tell them about Hugo's, though some libraries have strict ordering protocols that make it hard to route around.)

Carro Will the hardback version be followed by a paperback version?

Assuming it doesn't tank completely, yes. No guesses as to the interval -- it's typically a year, but it can vary -- or if there will be a trade paperback edition in between, but as always I'll post news when I know it.

Jenny T I just preordered Penric from B&N -- looking forward to finally reading the series! I have a three-year-old daughter, so whenever I hold my e-reader in front of her, she wants both it AND me **chuckle**

And, my goodness, that is a pretty cover.
