Hobbs & Shaw

Yep, I can already check this movie off of my list. I have been anxiously waiting for its release. Partially, because of its very fine cast. (They’re talented too) This movie held nothing back! Between the acting, digital effects, comedy, emotions, the works… this movie had it ALL! I am not big on seeing movies twice in theaters, but I would go watch this one again. It was that good.

The comedy, honestly, caught me off guard. I expected a few here and there parts, but nothing like this. The entire theater was cracking up. Especially during cameo appearances and fights between Hobbs & Shaw. (Those two fight like cats and dogs)

Not to bad mouth the other Fast & Furious movies, but this is the first one where I didn’t walk away at the end pissed off, annoyed, or rolling my eyes. The other movies had some serious cheesiness in them. Vin Diesel’s good looks could only cover up so much of the cheese. lol

Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is the smoking hot dad you see at the park with his kiddo, but then, later on, you see him taking on an entire army of bad guys as though it’s no big deal. Yep, that’s Hobbs! The big-hearted dad, who puts daughter first.

When he is called to save the world (Yet again… sheesh. How many times does a man have to save a planet?), he knows what he has to do. He has to ensure that the world is still there tomorrow when his little girl wakes up. So off to save the day he goes.

Deckhard Shaw (Jason Statham) has that accent that makes your mouth gape open and the lust-drool flow. I simply love his accent. His accent makes the words that leave his mouth during the movie ten times better. No matter what emotion he is portraying, he sounds sophisticated. In this movie, we see a softer side to Shaw. Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t running around giving everyone hugs. He is still a badass mo-fo, but there are scenes where he really moves the audience.

What awesome movie wouldn’t be complete without a badass, kic ass take names later woman? This is where Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) comes in. The first scene of Hattie shows you her strength and intelligence. She is more than just a pretty face, which she proves over and over again throughout the movie.

When I saw the previews, I thought it was going to be heavy on sex appeal and romance. The previews (in my opinion) made it seem like Hobbs and Hattie were going to have some serious heat between them. This movie was great and it didn’t have the overkill of sex appeal and crazy sex scenes.

Chime the suspense music. Or maybe blast some Saliva- Click Click Boom. ( music video to the song ); at least the chorus part for the introduction of the next character in this movie. The super badass bad guy, Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), who I think lots of women (some men too) would happily join the Bad Guy Team if it meant spending time with him! However, spoiler alert… His dashing looks aren’t even enough to hide just how badass, warp, twisted, and cutthroat he is throughout this movie. Idris Elba’s acting is on point! He really brought his character to life! (Semi-pun)

This movie is rated PG-13! If you don’t like your children hearing curse words or slang words for body parts, you should probably leave them at home. Because the insult wars back and forth between Hobbs and Shaw are pretty ruthless. Funny, but ruthless.

Again, I loved this movie! After watching MIB III, I thought I was going to swear off all movies that were animated/cartoons. Hobbs & Shaw brought back my faith in the movie world. Laughing but not joking. lol

Happy reading (or watching, if you go to see the movie) & XoXo,

S.E. Isaac
