You can only see half of the gorgeous wrap art in this scan. Artist Ryan Pancoast was a new name to me, but he did an amazing job capturing in-spec versions of Barr and Lily. I tend to shy away from cover art ideas that attempt to portray the characters, because it has so often gone awry in the past, but this time it worked. I hope that Pancoast eventually puts the full painting up on his website where I can link it.

(I have a scan of the full original image, but I'm told until the lettering goes on, converting it to an advertisement that the writer is free to wave about, it is up to the artist how it is deployed and where.)

Oh I agree, the cover looks great!I haven't read the Sharing Knife, but I'm planning on reading this edition when it comes out, so maybe I can be one of those neophyte readers you're always looking for feedback from. :)

Yes indeedy.
I believe it should work just fine as a stand-alone, but with luck you can come back and report. It will of course embed some spoilers for the prior tetralogy, should you go on to it, but I'd think there would still be plenty of surprises left.

I finished listening to Knife Children on audio recently and loved it. I'll keep an eye out for the hardcover to preorder it. My copies of Flowers of Vashnoi arrived in the mail today and look very nice.
