And now let's revisit novelist Vickie McDonough, author of the Christian historical romance, Julia (Maverick Press, May, 2019).

Vickie’s books have won numerous awards including the Booksellers Best and the Inspirational Choice awards.
When she’s not writing, Vickie enjoys reading, doing stained glass projects, gardening watching movies, and traveling.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Julia.

When a man is thrown from a horse, Julia is out riding her mare and rushes to help. Although Taylor Marshall is a Confederate, he and Julia quickly become friends. By the time her father realizes it, Julia has lost her heart to the kind man. When her father forbids her from seeing him, Julia struggles.
Will she say goodbye to Taylor when the trail splits? Or will the pull of forbidden romance be too strong to ignore?
What is it about Julia that will make your readers care about her?
Julia is an independent but a kindhearted person who likes to help others. She raised her little brother and kept their farm going after her mother died while her father was still at war. On the trail, she befriends a woman with two young children who loses her husband in an awful accident.
What novel would you like to see brought to film?
Karen Witemeyer has some wonderful books. I’d really like to see her Short-Straw Bride made into a movie.
I love the book's tagline: "Four brothers. Four straws. One bride." Intriguing and, as the description says, "lighthearted."
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?
The last novel I read is Tender Hope by Amanda Cabot. It’s the third book in Cimarron Creek Trilogy, and it has not one, not two, but three romances. I recommend the whole series. While each book is a stand-alone story, there are some excellent twists and turns that run through the whole trilogy. You’ll want to read all three books.
Great recommendation! What are you working on now?
I’m writing a novella called "Twice the Trouble" that will be part of the Mail-Order Standoff Collection. It’s the story of two identical twin sisters who have become mail-order brides. Before they arrive in town to marry two men who are cousins, they decide they want to get to know the men before marrying them. They step off the stage in matching dresses and refuse to tell the cousins which twin is which. The first chapter had me smiling quite a bit.
How fun! All the best with it.

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
The novella I’m writing now is that last story I have planned. I’d like to know what storylines readers would like to see in a Christian romance, maybe something they haven’t yet seen.
