Sometimes It Might Be Better Not To Offer Options

We get sandwiches pretty often. Our most frequent are Subway and Jimmy John’s. My wife usually picks them up on her way back from tennis or volleyball. I have noticed that she really pushes for Jimmy John’s. I was just considering why.

Here is my usual order at Jimmy John’s: Turkey Tom: no mayo, add mustard. Occasionally I get whichever one has roast beef instead, same thing with the mayo and the mustard.

Meanwhile, here is Subway: foot long on wheat, chicken strips (toasted on the bread before the other stuff), lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, banana peppers, olives, and yellow mustard. Sometimes I get the meatball sub instead, sometimes still other sandwiches.

See the difference? Somehow, she just keeps gravitating to Jimmy John’s. I like the options for all the stuff I can get on the sandwich, but she doesn’t want to have to relay all that. I think we’d get Subway more often if her ordering for me was simpler.
