There’s Not Enough Restrooms In Downtown Denver Anyway

I walk through Civic Center Park in downtown Denver on the way to work. Recently, I noticed a guy walking towards a corner formed by some of the stone walls located there. It’s one of the lowest spots in the park, most hidden by the road.

I knew what he was doing. I looked away and didn’t look back.

He seemed unconcerned by my presence, if he even saw me. Sure enough, I heard the sounds of liquid splattering a few moments later.

Why would I do anything? Sure, we can have problems if too many people are peeing outside downtown. If we wanted to stop that though, we would need more public restrooms. There aren’t many, if any, official public restrooms. I’ve seen a couple trailers of “public restrooms” the city sometimes drops at various places downtown, but I don’t see them often. Even places that people can sneak in an use the restrooms generally sometimes balk at the homeless. The library was a block away and I would hope they wouldn’t chase away someone from the bathroom for being homeless, but I’m not sure if it was even open yet. Besides, I am not the potty police. I thought it best to just look the other way and give the guy some privacy.
