What Viewers are Saying about Magic Mansion

Magic MansionAre you reading my serialized m/m story Magic Mansion yet? Why not? It's free - and there's VOTING!

[info] liamgrey says: "I'd avoided reading Magic Mansion because I'm not a fan of reality tv, and I like to sit and spend huge chunks of time reading, and thought I would get frustrated with the stop-and-go nature of the story.

I was wrong. I'm hooked. All of the characters are 3-dimensional and vibrant, and I don't want any of them to leave."

[info] kriscat says: "You would be a great reality show producer. The challenges and the twists and turns are awesome. I wish Magic Mansion was a real show. I would watch it."

Intrigued? Then step into the Mansion....

Chapters 16-19 available now! Voting closes 7am CST on November 23.

Jordan Price I think you're only behind one month...it will be a nice big chunk to treat yourself to all at once!

Jordan Lombard Those are great reviews! I normally hate reality tv too, but this is amazingly well done, and I'm loving it.

And yay, today, if I'm lucky, I'll get time to read chapter 19 and vote! Woot!

Jordan Price Yay, I hope you find the time!

A lot of comments have included "I don't like reality TV," and I think maybe it's not about liking reality TV at all, but whether a reality TV setting will provide interesting conflicts for characters. For instance, I love reading about pandemics and natural disasters. Not because I'm a fan of pandemics and natural disasters, but I like watching the characters go up against them. So I wonder if "I don't like reality TV" is working against Magic Mansion? Though probably "it's free and I'm bored" will make up for the preconception.

Jordan Lombard I don't think that's it. Well, at least not for me. I just can't stand the stupidity that goes on in reality tv. It's real, but it's not. And all everyone does that I've ever seen is get angry at each other, cry, and talk about someone behind their backs. Reminds me of soap operas, in a way, only soaps have really bad music, if any, and are just plain boring. lol. I like police chases and things blowing up, what can I say?

But Magic Mansion is a little different. I feel more connected to the characters... and maybe it's also because there's a gay romance going on that also is very attractive. For me, it's better than real reality shows. And maybe part of that is because we get to go "behind the cameras" and we get to see what's happening when the cameras are off, to see what the characters are really like, and how they're really reacting to each other.

Maybe I've got a lot of misconseptions, but I also feel like a lot of reality show characters are more selfish than anything. They want to win, and they're not about to help each other out. Here, though, there are some characters like that (Of course there's going to be a few) but not all of them are seen that way, and I like that.

This is so much more than a reality show, and I love it! And yes, I did get to finish chapter 19 in time for voting! Woot!
