I run the numbers on the Goodreads Choice Awards

Grey Sister is up for Best Fantasy 2018!

Getting to the finals would be a huge boost but it will be a big struggle. Red Sister didn't make it!

Here I run the numbers on this year's nominees:

And here I analyse the gender split of the top 15 over various categories over the competition's history:

I voted for it too!

But since a great many of my readers have now read it on my suggestion (insistence) I may well have shot myself in the foot when it comes to votes like this :D

Wasn't it released long back?

Sharon I voted for Grey Sister! I hope you win.

It was re-released with a traditional publisher this year. And since I think it is a brilliant book that deserves a wider audience, I have no issue with it being on the nominee list.

Thanks, Christopher, it all helps. Red Sister missed the finals by a narrow margin last year.

Alexandru Ilie Grey sister will take home the gold!

message 12: by Brad (new)

Brad Had to go with Senlin Ascends, as well. Amazing debut novel. Also, I think it's fair to say that you have a bigger audience than Mr. Bancroft enjoys and I wanted to help his books get more exposure.

Since sales are directly proportional to number of ratings on Goodreads you will have to reconsider at least the audience assumption. Both Grey Sister and Senlin Ascends have similar numbers.

Alexandru Ilie come on guys, wheel of osheim was fabulous, red sister was great and they didn't win. i think grey sister is far above the rest and deserves first place.

They didn't even make the final ten.

Thanks for the support, Alexandru!

Mark Lawrence It is important, when voting for a nun, to ensure that you bring a mouse of sufficient clickiness.

I loved Grey Sister, Senlin and Bloody Rose. Wish I could vote for all three. Point is; people will still read all of these books for a long time and enjoy them. I know I did.

We the readers are spoiled for choice, which is a great thing! Even though you as authors are doing battle for the top spot(s). I guess what I am trying to say is thank you for the work you put into yours books Mark. As readers of your books, we have already won.

Nikki Voted for Grey Sister - there was no contest for me amongst the nominees. Now impatiently waiting for Holy Sister to complete my trilogy - good luck!

Brad Senlin Ascends didn't make the cut. :(

No. If it was more about quality and less about sales numbers then it would have.
