Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.
Last week: Maverick told Rowan about his fallout with the band.
Maverick's POV. Rowan is speaking first.

"I can imagine." She glanced at him with a tilt of her head. "So does that mean you don't drink alcohol?"
"I like to be in control, so I drink responsibly."
She lifted her cup to him in a salute. "Good for you."
The sparkle in Rowan's eyes had him mesmerized until Katie broke the spell with her next words, which he could bet she purposely did to keep him in check.
"If you're both finished with your coffee break, I'd like to put up the Halloween decorations I bought. I could use some help bringing them in." She jabbed her thumb toward the door and added, "They're out in the car."
